"As previously reported in The INQ, network operator Orange had originally taken steps to prevent anyone unlocking their SPV smartphone in order to allow 'unsigned' applications to be run on the handset. This incensed a bunch of keen Microsoft Smartphone developers who promptly published details of how to manually get around this problem.
It appears that Orange has now relented entirely. The company now provides an OTA (over the air activation) unlocking facility for anyone who wants it. This facility is available on their developer Web site here (no not here... below :)).
Orange does invite SPV owners to relock their handsets after testing out new apps but we can't see much take up for that service. "
