Microsoft has been committed to its cross-platform strategy with consistent updates to its apps on Android and iOS, such as the recent update for Microsoft Launcher which made many improvements to the Home screen.
Now, the company has released a new update for its Outlook for Android app which brings the version number to 2.2.147 and focuses almost entirely on a new and improved search experience. Here's the full list of changes from the Google Play Store:
- A new and simplified navigation bar with Search front and center.
- Direct access to top contacts, upcoming travel itineraries, package deliveries, and recent attachment right from the Search tab.
- Search for emails and contacts from a single search box.
- Contacts and files are integrated directly into the experience.
Upon opening the app, users will find that Search is quite literally "front and center", as it sits right in the middle of the tab pane at the bottom of the screen.
The search experience seems to be pretty useful, showing recent contacts and files right away, and even provides the option to filter the search results to only show e-mails with attachments. Users can grab the update right now from the Google Play Store.
Microsoft recently announced that it would roll out a new Mail experience for all Outlook.com users, and it seems the company is focused on continuing the improvements to its service on every platform.
