Overstrike to come out of stealth mode this summer

Overstrike was perhaps the biggest highlight of Electronic Arts' E3 2011 press conference. The near future action game is from developer Insomniac, best known for their long relationship with Sony's Playstation console for games like the Resistance and Ratchet and Clank series. Overstrike, a four player co-op action game set in the near future, was revealed as Insomniac's first game for not just the PS3 but for the Xbox 360 console as well.

However, E3 2012 came and went last week with no mention at all of Overstrike by either EA or Insomniac. Indeed, there's been nothing revealed about the game since its E3 2011 trailer. However, it appears that Overstrike is still being worked on but we will have to wait a little longer to get some new info.

In a chat with Computer and Video Games, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau is quoted as saying that Insomniac is " ... taking some extra time to nail the gameplay and the quality." He added, "It felt like we would stand out better later in the summer once we've hit some key milestones and we're able to show off more."

Insomniac recently launched its first Facebook-based game, the sci-fi themed strategy-RPG title Outernauts.
