Blizzard Entertainment is gearing up to release its popular shooter Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch next month, per a report from Kotaku, and the announcement is likely coming later tonight on the latest Direct presentation.
The game has already been in the minds of the hybrid console's owners due to an Amazon listing from last month that leaked an Overwatch-branded Switch carrying case, hinting at the game's arrival on the platform. New leaks have also attached an October 18 release date in Europe for the title.
The team-based shooter launched on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 over three years ago, and has since received an array of new characters, maps, as well as game modes enriching the experience. If the Switch version turns out to be real, it should ship with all the enhancements the popular title has received since launch on the other platforms.
Blizzard and Nintendo are yet to make any official announcements regarding Overwatch's new venture so take this information with a pinch of salt. The 40-minute Nintendo Direct is slated to go live at 3PM PT today focused on Pokémon Sword and Shield and Luigi's Mansion 3. It may be a good idea to stick till the end to find out if there are any special announcements.
Update: As expected, Nintendo has confirmed during its Direct that Overwatch will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The game will release October 15, and it requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership to play online.
