Just days after a source indicated the rumored 4-inch iPhone would be named the 'iPhone 5se', a photo supposedly showing the device has been posted online. It shows a clear size similarity with the iPhone 5 family. If real, the photo confirms the previous report that the smaller iPhone retains the external curved design of the iPhone 6 and 6s.
The photo was first published a few days ago on the Dutch discussion board One More Thing by a person with the username 'Gijs Raggers'. Although anyone is able to sign up and post on the website, the same user also posted photos of the original iPad Air in August 2013, almost three months before Apple unveiled it to the public. In the post attached to the photo he suggests it originates from Vietnam.
The new 4-inch iPhone is expected to replace the iPhone 5s as Apple's "budget" mobile phone. Despite this, the anonymous source from a few days ago believes it will still have powerful hardware. It is expected to have a mix of the specs and features found in the iPhone 6 and 6s, however 3D Touch is likely to be the biggest feature omission from the iPhone 5se.
Further supporting the recent leaks about a 4-inch iPhone, MacRumors has obtained a copy of a note to investors by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The note advises Apple will release a new 4-inch iPhone in the first half of 2016, along with the iPad Air 3. For now, we will have to wait until March or April to see if the latest rumors are true.
