Sony looks like it will be first off the mark, beating Microsoft with its Xbox by offering broadband service for the Playstation 2.
The company said that its service will use an adaptor called the Broadband Navigator, which will be provided by Internet service providers, with a service initially starting this April, according to the Nikkei BP wire.
The adaptor comes with an Ethernet interface and a 40GB hard drive for downloads, and will come with pre-installed utilities for email, instant messaging. It will use Real Player to provide streaming video..
