Sony have released the first ever image of their forthcoming handheld PSP. Click through for the full low-down
After months of speculation as to exactly what it will look like, Sony have finally released the first render of their PSP handheld games machine. While we were anticipating a GBA SP-style device that flips open, it's actually closer in look to Nokia's N-Gage - only much, much snazzier.
The PSP render was unveiled at Sony's Corporate Strategy Meeting in New York yesterday by Ken Kutaragi, Sony's executive deputy president and head of their games division.
The first things that strike you are the generously-proportioned 4.5 inch widescreen and the buttons, which appear to be touch-sensitive. There's been speculation that a thumbstick will pop up on the left hand side, although there's no confirmation from Sony whether this will be the case or not.
There have been reports that the top part of the image is a snap-on cover but we're not convinced by this - we reckon it's just the back of the machine.
