As previously announced, Nintendo - or more accurately, The Pokémon Company - hosted the first Pokémon Direct of 2020 earlier today, and the presentation came with a couple of major announcements. The first was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, which is coming to the Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2020.
For those unfamiliar, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is one of the longest-running spin-off series in the Pokémon franchise, developed in partnership with Spike Chunsoft. It's a dungeon crawler game, which mixes dungeon exploration with Pokémon's turn-based fighting system. Rescue Team DX is a remake of the first games in the franchise, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, which were released as a pair, with the first title being on the Gameboy Advance and the latter on the Nintendo DS. It's also the first game in the series since 2015, when Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon launched on the Nintendo 3DS.
The game adopts a different art style to the most recent titles, with the world being made to look somewhat like a painting, rather than the plain 3D aesthetic of Super Mystery Dungeon. It tells the story of a human who finds themselves turned into a Pokémon, striving to find out what happened. The trailer didn't showcase many changes in terms of content, though we can see that Mega Evolutions make an appearance.
As mentioned above, the games will be available on March 6, but you should be able to pre-order them from the eShop right now. There's also a demo version available, which lets you try the game and carry over the save data to the full version when it releases.
