A newly announced free-to-play game from publisher Nival Interactive, Prime World, will allow gamers to experience cross-platform gaming over a wide variety of platforms. The game's official web site has already launched and will be made available for the PC, Mac, iOS and Android platforms along with the Facebook social networking service.
Nival Interactive is a Russian-based company that in the past has released more traditional strategy games for the PC such as the Blitzkrieg series and Heroes of Might and Magic V. Now the company has opened up a US office in Los Angeles and will be launching Prime World to a US and European audience. The game itself is a combination of a fantasy player vs player combat game along the lines of Defense of the Ancients with the social aspects of a Farmville-style game.
Indeed Nival's founder and president Sergey Orlovskiy states in the game's press release, "Prime World lets gamers kick their friend's ass while getting their girlfriend something pretty for her castle." The PVP game will be a fully featured downloadable title while the castle building features can be played on a web browser or via mobile phones. There will also be an action-puzzle mini game that will "provide valuable support to fellow warriors." The game itself is based on the Unity 3D engine which helps Prime World with its cross-platform features.
Nival plans to show off Prime World for the first time in public at next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo. After that a beta test for the game is scheduled for sometime later in 2011.
