Back in September Ubisoft announced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, a reimagining of the classic action game from 2003. The original launch schedule had the title launching on January 21, 2021, but due to a new delay, fans of the series will now have to wait a couple of months longer before they can get their hands on it.
The studios behind the remake, a team from Ubisoft Pune and Mumbai divisions, announced today that the launch has been moved to March 18, 2021, giving them additional time to develop the project:
"We are excited to put this game in your hands, as we retell the story of the Prince and Farah in a reimagined 11th century Persia. However, 2020 has been a year like no other. Today we wanted to let you know that we are taking additional time to work on the game."
Ubisoft's AnvilNext engine is powering the remake, with it touting enhanced graphics, environments, combat systems, and more, alongside new mo-cap assisted animations. Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal is returning to reprise his role as the Prince as well. Moreover, the original 1989 Prince of Persia is included in the package as a bonus, playable through the main menu.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake now launches on March 18 on PC (Epic Games Store and Uplay), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 for $39.99. While the new Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 were not listed as native platforms before, the delay might mean the next-gen consoles will get enhanced versions at launch.
