If you have been on the fence about purchasing Sony's PS Vita portable game console, you will have a chance to get some hands-on time with the product before the planned US launch on February 22. GameStop has announced that demo units of the PS Vita have now been set up in over 3,300 of the company's retail store locations in the US. GameStop is the first US retailer to set up PS Vita demo units in its stores.
Visitors to one of the participating retail store locations will be able to not only try out the console but will also be able to play parts of several PS Vita launch titles. They include the highly anticipated Uncharted: Golden Abyss along with Little Deviants, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational, EA Sports FIFA Soccer, ModNation Racers: Road Trip, Virtua Tennis™4: World Tour Edition, Escape Plan, and Wipeout: 2048.
If you own a Nintendo DS or 3DS console or a Sony PSP system and want to trade it in for a PS Vita, GameStop has also announced that it will give those customers an extra $25 credit on top of any credit they would have received for those consoles.
As we have reported before, people who purchase the $299.99 3G/WiFi version of the PS Vita at launch in the US will also get an 8 GB PS Vita Memory Card, an AT&T DataConnect Pass and a unnamed PlayStation Network game for no extra cost for a limited time. There's also the First Edition Bundle for pre-orders that has a limited edition case, a 4 GB memory card, the game Little Deviants, an AT&T DataConnect Pass and a free downloadable Playstation Network game for $349.99.
