It has taken a while, but it finally looks certain that Japan will adopt the PS3. Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3 stormed into the number 1 slot of the Japanese charts this week, selling 2,000 more copies than the charts number 2, Wii Sports.
Although the console was released last November, it had struggled to get a game into the top 10, which is currently dominated by DS and Wii titles. Sony's consoles had 3 titles in the Japan top 10, Virtua Fighter 5, GTA: San Andreas and Sega's J-League Pro Soccer 5.
Virtua Fighter 5 sold 48,000 copies in its first week of release, and is set to be a launch title when the console is released in Europe and Australia.
