Yes, the moment you have all been waiting for (at least some of you) has come. Quake 4 for the PC has gone gold and will ship to stores on October 18th.
For the three of you who have been under a rock for the past few years, Quake 4 is the direct sequel to Quake 2. You are cast in the role of Matthew Cane who is part of the Earth Defense Force's "Rhino Squad" and you are given the easy task of penetrating the Strogg war machine and destroy them once and for all. Quake 4 actually begins moments after the ending of Quake 2 with Earth launching a fleet of ships to the planet Stroggos in an all out invasion. You will fight alongside other elite members of Rhino Squad and in mechanized walkers and hover tanks as you encounter the Strogg.
Quake 4 is built on Doom 3 technology, and features Quake 3 Arena style multiplayer mayhem.
"On October 18, QUAKE is dialing it up to 4.0 on the Richter Scale with this new chapter in Earth's war against the Strogg," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "Fusing an epic war-story driven single player campaign, and fast-paced QUAKE III Arena inspired multiplayer, QUAKE 4 delivers a gaming experience fans will be raving about for years."
