Confirming several earlier leaks on where the shooter is going next, Ubisoft announced the Australia-themed free expansion Operation Burnt Horizon today for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. This operation is slated to be the first content injection to the game as the developer begins its fourth year of support.
The new attack and defense operator duo arrive from the Australian army special forces unit SASR (Special Air Service Regiment). While exact details on the operators weren’t shared, Ubisoft did tease players as to what their gadgets will bring to the table, saying there will be "a new device that’ll keep roaming Defenders on their toes, and one that’ll leave Attackers at a bit of a loss."

Here's how the company described the new map that is also dropping with this operation:
A high-stakes chase has ended in a standoff at a service station halfway between here and nowhere, resulting in a map that’s packed with twists, turns, and Australiana. Try not to get distracted in the gift shop or dream of sampling the national specialties available at the fast food counter. Your teammates will thank you.
Full details on Operation Burnt Horizon and its release window will be shared during the game's Six Invitational tournament, which kicks off on February 17. A roadmap of the upcoming year of updates is also expected to be revealed during the event.
