A Star Wars project of EA is in trouble once again if a new report is to be believed. The open-world title that EA Vancouver was building in the Star Wars universe has reportedly been canceled according to three sources that talked with Kotaku.
For those unfamiliar with the project, this was what Visceral Games was working on before EA went on to shut down the studio in 2017. Back then, EA moved the game's lead development to its Vancouver studio saying the original action-adventure direction was being changed to be a "broader experience".
Continuing the report, EA Vancouver's vision of the game - codenamed Orca - would have had players visiting multiple open-world planets as a "scoundrel or bounty hunter," all embroiled in the Star Wars universe.
The decision to cancel the game was reportedly made due to how long it would have been in development, with EA wanting to focus on pushing out a smaller-scale Star Wars game that is slated to launch in 2020. This could be Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars game - Jedi: Fallen Order - that was announced last year.
Unlike what happened to Visceral Games, however, it seems no developers were let go from EA Vancouver alongside the game's apparent cancelation. While EA hasn't officially confirmed anything about the situation surrounding the game yet, if the reports are true, this is another blow to the publisher's Star Wars ventures.
