The Galaxy Nexus smartphone has already launched in the UK and is scheduled to go on sale in Canada on Thursday. However, US citizens are still waiting to hear when Samsung's latest smartphone will go on sale in the US. There were rumors that Verizon Wireless would finally launch the Galaxy Nexus in the US on Friday.
Now News.com is reporting via unnamed sources that Verizon stores have been told the US launch of the Galaxy Nexus has been delayed once again. No new launch date was given. Officially, a statement from Verizon Wireless says, "We haven't officially announced a launch date for the Galaxy Nexus."
When the smartphone does eventually go on sale, Verizon is expected to price the Galaxy Nexus at $299.99 with a two year contract. There have been some rumors that the US launch was delayed due to an issue with the smartphone's volume featues that was discovered when it launched in the UK a few weeks ago. That bug has now been fixed via a software update.
On Tuesday, Verizon issued a statement denying a previous rumor that it was blocking access to the Google Wallet service for its smartphones. The company did say that the feature had not been implemented but was "continuing our commercial discussions with Google on this issue."
