Lots of gaming fans have been anxiously waiting for Oculus’ Rift VR headset to finally launch, and yesterday evening Oculus had a big announcement. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a launch date for its device nor its price tag.
Yesterday, at the Game Awards in Los Angeles, Oculus founder, Palmer Luckey came on stage and excitedly announced that Rock Band was coming to the Rift with a special VR version of the game. Rock Band VR will allow users to feel like they’re actually on stage in front of a virtual audience of adoring fans. And players will see everything from the perspective of the band member that they’re playing as.
Seeing how Rock Band has always drawn a large crowd of people and has lots of fans, this looks like be like a strong move by Oculus. Having a big title like this from the start, and offering a unique take on the game not available anywhere else, is bound to get lots of people interested.
Luckey also said that other important titles would also be available when the Rift finally launches sometime in Q1 of next year. Now if only we knew how much money to save up for that launch, we'd be all set.
What do our readers think? Is Rock Band VR enough to get you onboard the VR train or will you be waiting for a different game? Let us know in the comments below.
