Psyonix has announced the next update heading to its massively popular rocket-car and football mash-up title, Rocket League, to be Salty Shores. The update is carrying a brand new map, Competetive Season 8, new music, a Battle-Car as part of the new Impact Crate, and other improvements.
The developer describes the new map as its "sunniest map to date," saying "Salty Shores should keep the summertime vibes going year-round as a permanent addition to all online Playlists!" While a summer-themed game mode named Beach Blast is also planned, the studio is keeping details quiet for now. Possibly beach volleyball-based, the mode is set to launch on June 11 and run through July 2.
Meanwhile, the new Battle-Car that the update has in its innards, Twinzer, will only be available through the Impact Crate that Salty Shores will be introducing. Psyonix has confirmed that Twinzer will use the popular Battle-Car Octane's hitbox.
The developer also teased that several "quality of life improvements" are incoming with the update as well, such as a new report button for players to alert the developer of any server issues that may pop up.
Rocket League - Salty Shores update releases on May 29 and full patch-notes should arrive closer to its launch.
