Warner Bros. and Rocksteady announced Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League last year, a brand new superhero game set in the studio's Batman Arkham universe. While it was unveiled with a cinematic trailer back then, today during the 2021 DC FanDome presentation, the studio showed off the story trailer entitled "Ticking", catch it above.
As expected, this version of the Suicide Squad (or Task Force X) is also being used by Amanda Waller, and the mission is directly explained in the game's name. The shots in the trailer look like they are from in-game cutscenes, with closer looks being given of the main team — Deadshot, King Shark Harley Quinn, and Captain Boomerang — as well as the corrupted heroes they will be fighting.
The Justice League members are being affected by Brainiac who has invaded earth. Since it looks like saving the team is not possible, Amanda Waller is sending the Suicide Squad to "deal" with the newest threat and somehow take down major league targets like Superman, The Flash, and Green Lantern. Batman seems to be missing from the League's hero villain roster here, though he could still appear in the game if Arkham Knight's true ending is anything to go by.
As previously revealed, the title takes place in Metropolis, going away from the Arkham city setting of the franchise' previous titles. It will feature four-player cooperative play, though it is playable completely solo while switching characters as well.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches in 2022 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
