After years of waiting, the Roku app for Windows Phone has finally arrived. While iPhone and Android users have been enjoying the convenience of having an official Roku app on their devices, Windows Phone users were forced to use third party solutions. The newly launched Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 Roku app will be available for users in the United States, U.S., Canada, U.K., and Republic of Ireland.
When you first start the application it will automatically try and find your Roku devices on the network. Make sure that you have W-Fi on and are on the same network as your Roku device. Once it has been detected (or if not you can add it manually), you can select your Roku device, at which point you will be launched into the remote control interface.
The remote control will look familiar and should have the same buttons as your physical remote. The app will also allow you easy access to your channels and let you use the phones keyboard to type in search boxes.
The new Roku app is available for download from the Windows Phone and Windows App Store.
