If you think that the screen of your iPod Touch isn't big enough, then Samsung may have the device for you. The South Korean electronics company has unveiled the Galaxy Player 5.8. After the release of the Galaxy Player 3.6, 4, 4.2, and 5, the company thinks there's demand for an even bigger screen size. The latest release of the iPod Touch competitor features a big 5.8 inch screen.
The Galaxy Player 5.8 comes with a 960 by 540 pixel screen, 1GB of RAM, front-facing speakers and you can choose between a 16GB and 32GB model. A microSD slot, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0 are also built in and the device is powered by a 2,500mAh battery. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich comes preinstalled together with Samsung's TouchWiz interface. Notably lacking however is a rear camera.
The company hasn't announced any details on pricing yet. The smaller Galaxy Player 5 costs around $200, the Nexus 7 starts at $200 for the 8GB model and the 3,5 inch iPod Touch also sells for $200, so it's interesting to see if Samsung lowers the prices of the current Galaxy Player range to get around the $200 price tag, or that the company feels the big screen and the high-capacity battery is worth the extra money.
