Today, Samsung is announcing the Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72, its upper mid-range devices that pack a bunch of cool features but at lower price points than the flagship Galaxy S series.
“Samsung strives to give consumers what they want and need most. That’s why we set out with a vision for the Galaxy A series to democratize Galaxy innovations for everyone,” said Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “The Galaxy A52, A52 5G and A72 encapsulate the Galaxy brand philosophy with cutting-edge innovations, services and features at an accessible price.”
The Galaxy A52 series comes with 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED displays, while the A72 is 6.7 inches. Both the A52 and A72 come with 90Hz refresh rates, but the A52 5G goes up to 120Hz, so you're going to get a lot of smoothness. It's something that we've seen a lot on flagship phones, and indeed, 120Hz is still only being used by a handful of companies in their flagships. Obviously, Samsung is one of them.
And then there are the cameras. They all include the same 64MP f/1.8 main sensor with OIS, along with a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide fixed focus sensor and a 5MP f/2.4 macro lens. The A52 series comes with a 5MP depth sensor as well, and the A72 comes with an eight-megapixel 3x zoom lens with OIS. They include camera features like 4K Video Snap, which lets you take moments from 4K videos and turn them into 8MP images, and Scene Optimizer uses AI to give you the best settings for the thing you're shooting.
That's not all, of course. Samsung is touting two-day battery life with a 4,500mAh battery on the A52 and a 5,000mAh battery on the A72, and that goes along with the "hyper fast 5G" that on the Galaxy A52 5G. They come with stereo speakers, they're IP67 rated for water resistance, and they support expandable storage up to 1TB.

Another thing that Samsung noted is that it's coming to three generations of software upgrades for the Galaxy A series, a commitment that it's already made for its flagship phones. It's worth noting that it ships with Android 11, as there are other companies like Motorola that are shipping mid-range phones with a last-gen version of the OS and only promising one generation of updates.
The Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A72 are all going to be available in Awesome Violet, Awesome Blue, Awesome Black, and Awesome White.
