South Korea's Samsung Electronics Company and Sweden's LM Ericsson have concluded a cross-licensing agreement on patents in wireless communications technology. The agreement allows the two companies to use each other's patents covering second-generation and third-generation wireless technology and hence all patent-related lawsuits filed against each other have been withdrawn. Samsung spokeswoman Lee Soo-jeong could not provide any other details, including how many patent lawsuits had been pending. Suwon-based Samsung is the world's third-largest producer of mobile phones and Stockholm-based Ericsson is the world's largest wireless network maker. The two companies had decided not to publicly disclose certain information in the agreement.
