"All curves are not created equal," says Seoggi Kim, senior vice president of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business. "Samsung's SE790C offers an industry-leading and award-winning curvature for a truly immersive, comfortable and differentiating viewing experience."
Whether or not that's true remains to be seen. The SE790C is Samsung's new 34-inch curved monitor, and features an unusually wide 21:9 aspect ratio, along with Ultra-WQHD (3440x1440px) resolution, and 178-degree viewing angles.
Samsung also claims that the monitor delivers "best-in-class static contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and 300 cd/m2 typical brightness", although you shouldn't buy too much of the company's fluff about the curved display creating "a high 3D-like effect ratio that makes the screen seem larger than a flat screen of the same size".
Unfortunately, Samsung stopped short of revealing any details of pricing or availability in its announcement - but it will certainly be interesting to learn what premium the company puts on that 'award-winning curvature'.
