Samsung announced today that its digital wallet, Samsung Pay, has rolled out support for TransferWise cards in the U.K., expanding its list of issuers in the country. The partnership was launched last month.
The partnership allows customers to add their TransferWise debit Mastercard and debit Mastercard for Business to Samsung Pay as sources of funds. They can then use these cards to make purchases or send payments through Samsung's mobile payments service. However, only those with U.K. address can use Pay at the moment, TransferWise says.
Regarding the alliance, James Bradbury, Head of Services at Samsung Electronics UK, said:
“Our partnership with TransferWise will help Samsung customers get a great deal on currency exchange every time. We are committed to providing Samsung customers with innovative, secure technologies to make life easier, and we are happy to be the first Samsung market in Europe to launch the partnership.”
To add a TransferWire card to Pay, tap on the + icon in the top right corner within the app and select "Add payment card". Card details can be added through scanning or by manually entering the information. A verification code will then be sent to customers via SMS.
TransferWise is a London-based online money transfer service that provides multi-currency accounts. After adding their cards to their Pay accounts, customers can then use their TransferWise accounts to hold more than 50 currencies at the same time, available for use in more than 70 countries worldwide. The usual transaction limits for using the cards will also apply when using Pay.
