Samsung has been sending out some rather colorful press invitations to an event in New York on June 12th that looks set to be the launch for a new range of Android tablets.
With recent rumours suggesting that Samsung has been working on new devices with which to expand its tablet line-up, including one reputedly equipped with a 13.3-inch, 2500x1600 resolution display, the press invitations seem to support these reports.
The invitations reveal little about the event; besides their bright colors, they also feature the headline 'Samsung Galaxy Premiere 2014 - Tab Into Colour'. As Galaxy is the name of Samsung's Android range and Tab refers to its tablet line-up, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce what the gathering will be based around. Other than the above, no other information is given but a line at the bottom does state that the event will also be shown live on Samsung Mobile's YouTube channel, implying that it will be a new product launch of interest to consumers.
Expanding its tablet line-up will aid Samsung in its ongoing war against Apple, by applying the same strategy - of flooding the market with a plethora of different devices for almost every conceivable niche - that has made the company so successful in the smartphone space. Samsung tablet sales, although still lower than Apple's, are steadily increasing year-on-year whereas iPad sales have recently dropped.
The implied bright hues of the new Samsung devices could also position them to compete with Nokia's range of vibrantly colored smartphones and tablets, as well as Microsoft's Surface tablets with their range of colored touch and type protective covers.
