Samsung's smartphone range isn't exactly suffering from a lack of diversity - there's already a huge variety of handsets to pick from to suit all budgets - but that's not stopping it from adding even more models to its line-up.
The company is preparing to launch a new Galaxy C-series of handsets, and as SamMobile reports, the new devices will offer mid-range specs with premium design features. Two models - the Galaxy C5 and C7 - have so far been identified; the former will have a 5.2-inch display and, according to unverified benchmarks, will also feature 4GB of RAM and Qualcomm's upper-mid-range octa-core Snapdragon 617 SoC.
Significantly, both devices are said to feature 'thin metallic bodies' - the latest example of Samsung's commitment to improving the perceived quality of its devices. The company said a year ago that it was planning to push its product range upmarket, with more handsets featuring slimmer designs and metal bodywork, in an effort to differentiate its devices from those of its rivals.
According to The Times of India, while the Galaxy C-series is aimed primarily at buyers in China, the devices will also launch in India next month. However, that report also claims that the C5 will be "priced around $170" USD (roughly Rs.11,300 INR); given the reported specs of the device, that price seems unrealistically low alongside other handsets in Samsung's range.
