During its developer conference a couple of weeks ago, Samsung sort of showed off its foldable phone but also gave a glimpse of some of its new displays that will be featured on its future devices. While there have been lots of rumors about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S phones, it looks like this time around, we will be seeing the front display glass of a new model called the 'Galaxy A8s'.
The Twitter account UniverseIce, which has leaked details about Samsung's plans in the past, has shared an image, along with the words, "It may be the world's first hole in the screen smartphone: Galaxy A8s", which would suggest that the piece of display glass in the image belongs to the aforementioned handset.
Of course, what we are seeing could also be a screen protector but it would be hard to tell just from the image. Regardless, the small opening in the upper left-hand corner includes the same design as Samsung's Infinity-O display and if UniverseIce is correct, could arrive in a future device. This isn't the first time we are seeing this kind of display, just a few days ago we reported on a display panel with the same design.
Although display notches have been loathed by those in the Android community, these new display cut outs could alleviate some of that pressure, but we won't know until it is released and how well it functions in day-to-day use. Hopefully, Samsung phones with its new Infinity displays will arrive sooner than later.
