Xbox fans, rejoice! As announced yesterday, original Xbox games are now playable on the Xbox One. Three generations of games on a single console is now a possibility thanks to Microsoft. 13 original Xbox titles can now be played on Xbox One.
The games in question are:
- BLACK
- BloodRayne 2
- Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Dead to Rights
- Fuzion Frenzy
- Grabbed by the Ghoulies
- King of Fighters Neowave
- Ninja Gaiden Black (free with Xbox Game Pass)
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Psychonauts
- Red Faction II
- Sid Meier’s Pirates!
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
This isn't simply a port of the original titles, the company has also worked on improving the quality of the games as it showed in a slew of videos. They will have up to 4X the pixel count on Xbox One and Xbox One S, and up to 16X the pixel count on Xbox One X as compared to their original counterparts. You can play the aforementioned games through the disc that you may already have, or you can purchase the games digitally in the Microsoft Store.
However, there are a few caveats here, as there won't be any online multiplayer or achievements for these titles, but local co-op and system-link should work. Microsoft expects to release another curated list of titles by Spring 2018.
