Devolver Digital's weird and wacky Devolver Direct presentation kicked off today with the promised gameplay trailer for Shadow Warrior 3. The Flying Wild Hog-developed entries have always offered high mobility action to players, but now, a grappling hook has been added into the mix. Check out the trailer above to see the new mechanics in action as Lo Wang takes out hordes of demons.
Also showcased were the new Doom-like executions players will be able to perform on what seems to be special demons. These finishers let players rip out the powerful bits and unleash them "back on the horde in a burst of unstoppable fury and powerful magic." Wall running and dynamic environmental hazards have been added as features too.
Here is Shadow Warrior 3's setting as described by the developer:
Fallen corporate shogun Lo Wang and his former employer turned nemesis turned sidekick Orochi Zilla embark on an improbable mission to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed from its eternal prison. Armed with a punishing mix of blades and bullets, Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and push the apocalypse back yet again. All it will take is the mask of a dead god, a dragon's egg, a touch of magic, and enough firepower to hold off the impending cataclysm.
Shadow Warrior 3 is releasing sometime in 2021 and so far, only a Steam release has been confirmed. Fans who want to get a small taste of it before that can play the publisher's newly released "first-person marketing simulator" Devolverland Expo parody game on Steam, which offers a look into all of the games announced today during the Devolver Direct presentation.
