TAIWANESE CHIPSET maker Silicon Integrated Systems (SIS) said it has released its 755FX chipset, which it claims is the first with support for the 939 pin version of AMD's Athlon 64 FX microprocessors. The chipset also supports a 1GHz Hypetransport interface and AGP8X, SIS said. As well as Hypetransport, SIS uses a technology it calls Hypesctreaming and will give a front side bus transmission speed of up to 8GB/s.
The chipset when coupled with the south bridge 964 chip includes support for dual channel parallel ATA, two S-ATA 150 ports, eight USB 2 ports, 5.1 channel surround sound and modem and Ethernet support.
