Skavens announced as Total War: Warhammer II's fourth playable race; new trailer released

When Creative Assembly announced Total War: Warhammer II earlier this year, the developer revealed three of the four new races that will arrive with the game. These races were the High Elves, Dark Elves, and Lizardmen. There have been plenty of teasers and hints at what the game's fourth race will be, with the most obvious answer being the Skaven, a race of rat-men.

Today, Creative Assembly officially confirmed the fourth race to be the Skaven, who are being led by Queek Headtaker and Lord Skrolk. The studio also released a new in-engine rendered trailer showcasing the Rat-men armies, as they tear apart armies of both Dark Elves and Lizardmen, seen above.

With the introductions out of the way, the developer describes the Skaven race as follows:

Their motives obscured, the devious Skaven are a highly numerous species who inhabit vast subterranean lairs. Now, their time of prophecy is upon us, and this verminous Race has emerged to spread pestilence and mayhem across the face of the New World.

Total War: Warhammer II is slated to arrive on September 28 for the PC. In addition, anyone who pre-orders the game will receive a DLC race for the original Total War: Warhammer for free.
