When folks look back on the year 2018 with regards to Android smartphones, some might consider it the "year of the notch". Despite the display cut out debuting in early 2017 with Essential PH-1, the trend for Android phones didn't really gain momentum until this year, with most looking similar to that of Apple's iPhone X. For its flagship handset, the Pixel 3 XL, Google has also chosen to incorporate the notch into its handset, but now it seems a strange software glitch is taking the notch thing a bit too far.
There have been various reports online from users experiencing the phenomenon that puts a second display notch on the screen of the Pixel 3 XL. While this is quite a strange thing to experience, the problem can be solved by restarting the phone. Luckily, Google is already aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
Although this is a little bit of an issue, don't let the problem affect your buying decision. If you need a more in-depth look to push you over the edge, be sure to read Rich Woods' review of the Pixel 3 XL.
