Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has reported a huge jump in quarterly profits and expects continued growth throughout the rest of the year. This quarters pre-tax profit was 151million euros, double that of last years quarter which was 70million euros a year ago. Analysts had expected a figure closer to 130million. The company had also managed to sell its phones at a higher price than the year before.
You cant help but see Sony Ericsson phones when you wander the high street, Sony has capitalised on its 'Walkman' range offering the hugely popular W800i Walkman phone and this strategy has seemed to have worked. The firm, owned by Sweden's Ericsson and Japan's Sony, said that it shipped a total of 13.3 million handsets in the quarter, up 41% from the same period the year before.
