Sony resumes Android 7.0 rollout for Xperia XA and XA Ultra after OTA system issues

Last week, less than two weeks after it began, Sony suspended its rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra. The company said that it had identified "minor performance inconsistencies related to the over-the-air delivery system", but didn't provide any further information on when the update would make its way to those devices again.

Now, the wait is over. As XperiaBlog reports, Sony has resumed its Android 7.0 rollout - and in fact, it's pushing slightly newer builds to the two handsets:

  • Xperia XA: build 33.3.A.0.131 (previously 33.3.A.0.127)

  • Xperia XA Ultra: build 36.1.A.0.182 (previously 36.1.A.0.179)

While the rollout is now underway again, it will inevitably take some time to reach all eligible handsets around the world - and it will likely take even longer to hit carrier-locked devices.

In the last two weeks, Sony has also pushed the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat to its Xperia X and X Compact; and more recently, to the Xperia Z5 family, Z4 Tablet and Z3 Plus.
