Sony is hyping up the sales success of Spider-Man 2 today. The PlayStation 5 exclusive open-world Marvel superhero game sold over 2.5 million copies 24 hours after its official launch last week.

That's according to a new post on the PlayStation X (formerly Twitter) account. The title, developed by Insomniac Games, is now the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in the entire history of the PlayStation business, according to Sony.
The game, where both the Peter Parker and Miles Morales Spider-Men fight a number of foes from their rogues gallery, has also been a critical success from game media and from players. Metacritic shows that Spider-Man 2 currently has a 91 game critic rating, while the user score, based on over 2,000 comments, is only a bit lower at 8.8 (10 being the highest rating)
With the game's critical and sales success, many people are speculating about a possible third Spider-Man game. In a chat on the Friends Per Second podcast, Spider-Man 2's creative director Bryan Intihar compared the first two games to films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stating, "If Spider-Man 1 was like our Iron Man, and Spider-Man 2 was like a Civil War... where logically do we go from there?"
While the Spider-Man 2 team is likely taking a well-deserved break before working on any possible third game in the series, another Insomniac team is also working on another Marvel game for the PS5, based on Wolverine. There's been no info on that game since it was first revealed in December 2021.
