Mobile World Congress 2018 is around the corner, with heavy hitters like Samsung and Nokia expected to launch new smartphones in Barcelona next week. Sony will also be present at the show and has teased its next Xperia smartphones on Twitter before a launch next week.
The teaser video doesn't give us much to go on, merely showing a series of curves and a prospective launch date of 26.02.2018, which is next Monday.
Sony is expected to follow the recent trends in smartphone design which include a metal or glass slab, a full or near full-screen display with the highest resolution du jour and the latest, most powerful SoC.
It's not known how many smartphones the firm will launch, but all signs point to two or more going off launches in previous years.
While they have mostly flown under the radar, leaks of the Xperia XZ Premium and Compact successors have already made their way online, with the specs predicting a 5.7-inch 4K triluminous display for the former, and a potential 18:9 5-inch display for the latter.
Sony had been panned in reviews for retaining its classic Xperia design language for more than 5 generations of smartphones, so it'll be interesting to see if this design overhaul is sufficient to win over naysayers.
We'll find out more at Sony's events on Monday. Stay tuned to Neowin for all of our MWC coverage, and on Twitter.
