Space exploration game Astroneer to reach version 1.0 in December

Microsoft's E3 briefing was yesterday and the company had a lot to show during the event, but it seems that wasn't enough, and at an Inside Xbox stream today, it revealed that space exploration game Astroneer will finally be reaching version 1.0 in December of this year.

Astroneer is a space exploration game set in the 25th century, where astroneers set off to explore outer space in order to find and explore planets. Players can not only discover planets but also shape the terrain, build bases, and construct vehicles on these planets as they venture into the unknown. All of this is presented in a colorful, low-poly art style which is both simple and beautiful.

The game went into public preview in late 2016, and it's available both on Steam and Xbox with support for Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning it can be played both on Xbox and Windows 10 devices. However, a "final" release had never been known of until now. Though we're still without a specific date in December, at least we have an idea of when to expect it.

It's currently unclear what version 1.0 will add to the game, but this should still be exciting news for those who have been following the game throughout its preview period. If you'd like to check it out right now, you can head to Steam or the Microsoft Store, where the early access version is available for $19.99.
