Right as the Humble Store's The Darkness II giveaway comes to an end, the store has now put forth yet another free game up for claiming. Yager Development's Spec Ops: The Line is the game on offer this time, which was published by 2K Games back in 2012.
The third-person shooter is heavily lauded by fans for its realistic depiction of the horrors of war, making players face harsh and unethical decisions in the single-player campaign. For those interested in the setting, here's a short description of the game taken from its store page:
It’s been 6 months since Dubai was wiped off the map by a cataclysmic sandstorm. Thousands of lives were lost, including those of American soldiers sent to evacuate the city. Today, the city lies buried under sand, the world’s most opulent ruin. Now, a mysterious radio signal is picked-up from Dubai, and a Delta Recon Team is sent to infiltrate the city. Their mission is simple: Locate survivors and radio for Evac. What they find is a city in the grip of war. To save Dubai, they’ll have to find the man at the heart of its madness—Col. John Konrad.
Bearing a 'Very Positive' user score on Steam, Spec Ops: The Line is now available to claim completely free of charge via the Humble Store, which would have normally cost you $29.99. The game arrives as a Steam key, playable on Windows, macOS, as well as Linux. Also, note that its redeem deadline is set for April 14, so be sure to not let the free key sit around for too long.
