Spotify rolls out new experiment for sharing podcast quotes on social media

Spotify is making it easier to post quotes from its podcasts to social media. The service is testing a new feature on its mobile app that lets you share any of a set of prepared podcast quotes to your favorite social networking site.

The new experimental feature is now available alongside the first episode of The Michelle Obama Podcast. When you play the show on your mobile device, you will see a few cards arranged in a carousel containing quotes from the podcast. You can tap on any of the cards in order to view the options of sites where you may share the quote you pick. As of this time, you can post quotes to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and WhatsApp.

It seems the new feature is not available to everyone yet, seeing as it is still part of a test. It also remains unknown whether the experiment will go live for other podcasts. Spotify only gave the following statement:

“At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning.”

The quote-sharing capability appears to be a part of Spotify's efforts to expand the features for its podcast service. Last week, the company announced that it would bring support for video podcasts to its app.
