Sprint takes a break from Windows Phone, but will return

It looks like Windows Phone and Sprint need some time apart, but they’re only taking a break not breaking up.

Yesterday Sprint stopped selling its two Windows Phones, the HTC 8XT and the Samsung ATIV S Neo after more than 18 months on the market. A respectable period, especially when compared to Verizon’s calendar.

While the two handsets mentioned above are both outdated and likely sold in tiny numbers, the good news is that Sprint isn’t calling it quits. In a statement sent to Windows Central, a company PR rep said:

We do expect to bring new Windows Phone devices to our customers in the near future, and Sprint is committed to offering a variety of operating systems to our customers.

That’s an encouraging sign, as Sprint is likely alluding to the launch of Windows 10 for phones, expected in the second half of next year. Also expected, is a new line-up of Lumia and third party devices positioned at all price points to go with the new OS, so at least customers will have choices both in terms of carriers and of devices.
