The Square Enix-published title Marvel's Avengers won't be released till September, but superhero fans will be able to take the game out for a spin next month. As part of the IGN First coverage for Marvel's Avengers, it was revealed today that beta access will begin first for PlayStation 4 players, with Xbox One and PC joining in afterward.
The test sessions are further split into pre-order and open beta states. Here's a quick rundown on when everything kicks off:
- August 7 - PlayStation preorder Beta access begins
- August 14 - Xbox and PC Preorder beta access begins, PlayStation open beta also begins
- August 21 - Open beta across all platforms begins
The beta will be a meaty one according to the game's creative director Shaun Escayg, who says it will have participants playing an "original single-player Avengers story campaign, fighting through co-op missions, experiencing hero and world progression, and exploring War Zones and DROP ZONES."
To delve deeper into what's included in the beta and show off more of the superhero action game's campaign, co-op, exploration, and progression elements, another War Table presentation will go live on July 29 at 10AM PT. The first War Table, seen below, showcased an extended look at the original story, a Thor gameplay segment, the main villain - MODOK -, and more.
Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, Marvel's Avengers is incoming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Stadia, on September 4, 2020. Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions are planned to launch later.
