Celebrating the Lunar New Year, Steam has once again opened up a special event featuring thousands of game discounts. The Year of the Ox celebration is the first major sale to appear on Steam since the winter promotions ended in January. Though the scale is much smaller than the bi-yearly store-wide sales, quite a few high profile games have had their prices pulled down currently.
Steam has set up a hub page for the sale that users can use to browse through their favorite genres. Some highlights from the promotion include the deepest ever sale for Witcher 3: GOTY Edition, as well as discounts for hits like Hades, Disco Elysium, and Divinity Original Sin 2. There's even a small 10% discount for Cyberpunk 2077.
The Steam Points Shop has also been updated with Chinese New Year-themed items, adding animated avatars, frames, profile backgrounds, and emoticons, among other cosmetics. Moreover, there are now discounts for Points Shop item bundles. Valve is also offering a daily free sticker for use in Steam chats as the sale progresses. Unfortunately, the $5 store coupon code from previous years has not returned for another run this time.
The Steam Lunar New Year Sale won't even last a week, with Valve closing its doors on February 15 at 10AM PST, so it may be a good idea to browse through the latest deals before the conclusion. As usual, our Weekend PC Game Deals special will be listing highlights from the sales on Saturday.
