Blizzard has decided to not hold a BlizzCon fan event this year and it's also bypassing E3 2012, but that doesn't mean the company won't be showing off some upcoming games to the public. This week, it was announced that the first public playable demo of the RTS expansion pack StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm will be held during the Major League Gaming Pro Circuit Spring Championship event on June 8th-10th in Anaheim, California.
MLG states, "A large number of public demo stations at the event will allow attendees to try out the latest multiplayer build of Heart of the Swarm in advance of the upcoming beta test." The event will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center and spectator passes are being sold now for $35.
Blizzard first showed off Heart of the Swarm at BlizzCon 2011 in October, but didn't allow it to be played by its attendees. In a recent development update on the game's official web site, Blizzard team member Dustin Browder admitted that the development team has been making a number of changes to the expansion pack since BlizzCon 2011, including eliminating a couple of the new units that were shown at the event. There's still no word on when beta testing for Heart of the Swarm might begin.
