State of Decay 2 is heading to Windows 10 and Xbox One as an exclusive in 2017

Microsoft has announced that a sequel to 2013's State of Decay is headed to Xbox One and Windows 10 next year as an exclusive. Announced as State of Decay 2, the title will likely focus on multiplayer aspects, with the tagline being "NO ONE SURVIVES ALONE".

The game's description reads as follows:

The next installment in the critically acclaimed "State of Decay" franchise immerses you in an all-new, multiplayer zombie survival fantasy. Build a lasting community, working with other players or solo to overcome challenges while exploring your own unique story in a world that remembers the choices you make. NO ONE SURVIVES ALONE.

The original State of Decay was widely praised by critics as well as users, who lauded the vast world that could be explored in the game, role-playing aspects and survival mechanics. However, the title's reviews on Steam have recently shown a negative trend due to Microsoft ending support for State of Decay on the platform.

With that being said, State of Decay 2 will be heading to Xbox One and Windows 10 as a Microsoft exclusive next year, however, a specific release date is yet to be announced.
