State of Decay 2's new horde mode DLC, Daybreak Pack, is now available

During gamescom 2018, Microsoft revealed a brand new DLC pack that was heading to State of Decay 2, which among other features, would bring in a brand new game mode to the survival title. And today, the Daybreak Pack DLC officially released for the Xbox One family of consoles and Windows 10 PCs.

The brand new horde mode that ships with the DLC, called "a re-playable co-op 'zombie siege' experience" in the announcement, pits up to four players against waves of the undead. However, instead of using members of their own communities, players will be taking control of fully decked out Red Talon soldiers. The objective is to protect a technician who is repairing a satellite relay.

This task becomes even more dangerous thanks to the addition of a brand new special zombie, the Blood Plague Juggernaut. However, players are also getting some new tools to deal with the situation, including 15 new weapons, six explosives, as well as accessories, and base upgrades. DLC owners will be able to unlock these new pieces of content in the base game as well, and even bring in a powerful Red Talon soldier into the community.

The game also received a rather large update last week, fixing a barrage of issues, changing up some gameplay mechanics, and preparing it for the new DLC drop. The full changelog for that update can be found here.

State of Decay 2 Standard Edition owners can jump into the new content for $9.99 via the Microsoft Store while Ultimate Edition owners get the DLC pack for free. As the game is also available via the Xbox Game Pass program, subscribers get a 10% discount on the DLC pack.
