Steam News Hub launches to let you keep tabs on the games you play or follow

Steam has rolled out a new experimental feature that will let you check the latest updates about the games you play or follow with a customized news feed. Called the Steam News Hub, the mobile-friendly hub puts all the ongoing live events or any new content added to your game in a single place.

The news hub is designed to highlight events that are currently happening such as a live stream with a developer. In addition, it lets you see your bonus points in your free-to-play game. You can also see announcements related to your games and past events arranged according to how recent they are. Down the page, upcoming events are also highlighted and you can even set reminders for those that you want to watch when they go live. Steam says you can choose to receive email or mobile reminders for events that you don't want to miss.

Also, events and announcements can show up on your News Hub based on the games in your library or wishlist as well as games that you follow from their store page. Additionally, the hub will show you updates about the titles Steam would recommend based on the games you play, plus all the latest content from the Steam Blog and Steamworks Blog if you're a developer.

While those are the default contents, you can still choose to hide posts from specific games or sources and any particular type of events. It's still a work in progress and Steam plans to add more ways to further customize the hub in the coming weeks.
