Steam has kicked off its final major promotion of the year with the Winter 2019 Sale, and as usual for the yearly event, almost everything available on the behemoth games store is now heralding a discount. Accessing the store right away may be difficult, however, as the usual early crunch has caused Valve's servers to wobble.
Some highlights on the store's front page for the first day include Fallout 4 for 70% off, Hellblade for 66% off, and a 20% discount on Red Dead Redemption 2, alongside sales on many other games and franchises. Note that all of the store-wide discounts will remain static for the duration of the sale. The front page rotations are simply to showcase new games every day, not new discounts or flash deals.
As the final Steam Awards nominees have been selected from the previous round of voting, users can now vote again to select the winners of those eight categories as well.
Moreover, the rewards booth has returned from the Lunar New Year Sale event. Now named The Holiday Market, users can earn Festivity Tokens by making purchases on Steam and completing Holiday Quests - which is having a bit of a hard time loading currently - during the sale, and redeem them for cosmetic items - such as emoticons and profile backgrounds - as well as even a $5 coupon for a future purchase.
The Steam Winter Sale of 2019 will end its run on January 2 at 10AM PT, offering two weeks of promotions to make decisions and grab games.
