Sun's memory more expensive than Kingston's -- by 330%

IT'S A WHILE since we did a comparison between memory provided for servers by tin manufacturers themselves, compared to the price you can get it for if you hunt around a bit.

And so we wended our way over to Kingston's web site, where you can find price comparisons – not only between Sun memory and Kingston memory, but also between IBM and Compaq.

The differences listed here, in €uros, are more than a little staggering, if Kingston's figures are correct.

For an IBM eServer xSeries machine, Kingston's memory costs €2,537, compared to IBM's own price of €6,077. That's 140% difference.

Compaq's price for Proliant Itanic memory is €8,885, compared to Kingston's €2,537.
