It's been a fortnight since Nintendo launched its much-anticipated new mobile game featuring the world's most popular plumber. Within just four days of its release, Super Mario Run had been downloaded over 40 million times.
The game was announced in September, and while Nintendo said that it would launch exclusively on iOS, it also promised that it would eventually make its way to Android devices too. Today, Mario has taken one step closer to his Android debut, as the game has made its first official appearance in the Google Play Store.
Don't get too excited though - while the app is now listed in the store, you can't download it yet. In fact, as Nintendo itself points out, all you can do for now is "pre-register to be notified" when the game is available.
It's still unclear if the Android version will be priced the same as its iOS counterpart, although it seems likely that it will. While the game is free to download on iOS, only the first few levels can be enjoyed before players must then pay a one-time fee of $9.99 to unlock the rest of the game.
Nintendo hasn't yet announced a firm release date for Super Mario Run on Android, but with the game's appearance on the Google Play Store today, there shouldn't be too much longer to wait.
